The school was delighted to welcome Billy Higgins to the school on Monday 9th May 2022. Billy is a native of Boston, USA. It has been over 30 years since Billy first set foot in Limerick and since then his name has become inextricably linked with the area.
The friendliness and warmth of the people of Limerick city led him to begin a series of exchange programmes between Southill and his home city of Boston and to fundraise for community developments in an area, he says, that is like his second home.
Billy met with our principal Mr O’Byrne in late April 2022 to discuss the possibility of creating a link between the school and his charitable trust. We were delighted to be presented with a cheque for $5,000 by Billy. His generosity and goodwill are to the core of the Catholic ethos we so strongly uphold in our school.
We look forward to developing a strong, vibrant relationship with Billy into the future.
