Ms Kiely is the new European K1 Kickboxing Champion. There was great excitement in the school as we welcomed home our new champion on Wednesday 30th November. The school held a truly well deserved and hard earned welcome home for our heroic European Champion in the presence of staff, pupils and parents. Ms Kiely fought five rounds in the bruising stand-up combat sport against Malta’s Celeste Galea and won via a split decision. She showed amazing skill, focus and determination on the night. We are extremely proud of her achievement and she is a great ambassador for St Mary’s NS.
Ms Kiely has had a fantastic year and ended up with the massive achievement of winning a European Title and a making history for the Hub Martial Arts by being the first ever female to bring home a European title to club and county. Trained by Paul O’Brien, Ms Kiely intends on fighting for a World Title in the not too distant future. I think you will all agree that she is a fantastic role model for our children and we wish her every success in the future. Hopefully some day, she will return to us with a World Belt. We are super proud of you Ms Kiely. Keep it up.
