Physical Education is an important part of the curriculum in St. Mary’s NS. Engaging in regular physical activity not only enhances physical health but also supports mental and emotional well-being. Physical education fosters motor skills development, coordination, and overall physical fitness, which are essential for children’s growth. Through diverse activities, children learn about teamwork, cooperation, and fair play, which are important social skills that extend beyond the gym or playground.
Throughout the school year, children engage in all areas of the PE curriculum. 3rd to 6th class have gone to Grove Island swimming. All classes have taken part in athletics, gymnastics, dance, games and outdoor and adventure activities. We have had outside teachers come and take the children for small group PE lessons, GAA and swimming.
